Kwik Sew 2527 Adults and Childrens Hats and Socks Sewing Pattern
There are three styles of hats, a hood, a headband and socks. We recommend using heavyweight stretch knits such as Polarfleece®. The only notion you will need is thread unless otherwise specified.
View A is a twisted three peak hat made in three colours. It ties and has a double band that covers the ears.
View B hat has a fold-up cuff and ties threaded through a loop and tied into a bow to gather the top of the hat. The ends of the ties have pom-poms. This hat is made from a single layer of fabric and the wrong side of the fabric will show when the cuff is folded up.
View C is a stocking cap with a roll-up cuff. The hat is single layer and the wrong side of the fabric will show when the cuff is rolled up. All sizes require 1/2 yard (0.50 m) of 26” (66 cm) wide (minimum width) fabric.
View D is a double layer headband with a Velcro® closure. The outside edges are finished on a serger machine or with zigzag stitches on a standard sewing machine. Each layer requires 1/8 yard (0.15 m) of 26” (66 cm) wide (minimum width) fabric for all sizes. You will also need 2” (5 cm) of 1 1/2” (4 cm) wide Velcro®.
View E hood covers the head and and the neck. It has an opening for the eyes. The opening is finished with a binding made from swimwear fabric. All sizes require 5/8 yard (0.60 m) of 33” (84 cm) wide (minimum width) fabric. You will need a 3” x 16” (7 cm x 40 cm) piece of swimwear fabric with the greatest degree of stretch on the length of the piece.
The single layer socks in View F are finished at the top edges on a serger machine or with zigzag stitches on a standard sewing machine.
